The alloy increases the resistant properties of fasteners making them workable in crevice corrosion cracking, stress corrosion cracking and even pitting. The increased amount of chromium increases its resistant ability in oxidizing media. Molybdenum and tungsten elements give it good resistant ability in reducing media. The presence of nickel makes it useful in oxidizing aqueous media. The fasteners are useful for acetic acid, formic acid, and well-wet chlorine-containing environments.
